Martian Journal Small
Day Two:
And a Busy Day it Was!

Laptop Friday in Boulder dawned clear. The bulk of the morning was occupied with adding last minute touches to the Martian Lava Tube PowerPoint presentation, and the Breakfast of Champions, (left). "Just ONE MORE diagram!" Anyway, done now!

Next it was the afternoon sessions, and a short interlude in the Glenn Miller Lounge, to plug into the handy-dandy DHCP enabled Internet connection! Real handy, especially when Jeff Daly from CompView informed me that I needed to suck out the SMART Board drivers for my whiz-bang presentation tomorrow. 7 megabytes and a minute later, I was real thankful for that fast pipe next to the piano!

Everett Gibson The evening session offered some insights into Martian life, with NASA's own "Dr. Meteor" Everett Gibson, one of the main members of the team that studied this now famous rock. Also on tap was Dr. Penny Boston, who shared her experiences with studying life in caves.

This was followed by a spirited panel discussion of "What Kind of Mars do we Want?" This included much involvement between the crowd and speakers, and dramatically demonstrated the wide range of Martian ideas . . .
